I’m here for the sleep deprived parents who know they do not want to sleep train. Who desire support to get to the bottom of what is really going on for their little one — and who want to continue responding + nurturing them at night, whilst making gentle changes to get more sleep!
As a mum to a very wakeful, unsettled baby, I spent every waking moment (yep, especially those ones in the middle of the night) desperately searching for something that would make my child sleep.
And at the same time, I knew I did not want to sleep train him, no matter how hard things were. Still, I questioned my instincts constantly. I never fully allowed myself to enjoy the snuggly contact naps and nights spent holding his little body next to mine in bed. I felt as though I was doing something wrong every time his eyelids fluttered shut + breathing slowed whilst breastfeeding. I spent hours trying to make him go to sleep in his cot so I could reclaim some time for myself… when in fact all I was doing was driving myself crazy and missing out on precious moments I could have been enjoying with him.
Each time a friends baby started sleeping through, my heart sank. But I kept holding onto the belief that our time would come.
THERE’S SO MUCH I WISH I’D KNOWN
I wish I’d known in those early days / weeks / months that it was safe for me to trust my instincts.
I wish I’d known that prioritising my own regulation would be one of the biggest ways to support him. I wish I’d known that some parts of his sleep were completely normal, but had been deemed unacceptable by friends / family / society.
And I wish I could have known back then that eventually my boy would sleep through the night — without me needing to sleep train him to ‘teach’ him how. That he’d willingly run up the stairs at night, excited to go to bed — in his own room. And that it was actually by repeatedly responding to his wakes and supporting him at night that we were teaching his nervous system that sleep was safe.
As a certified Somatic Coach, NLP & Reiki Practitioner, I am deeply passionate about supporting people to understand & trust themselves. To tune into their intuition, and work with - rather than against - their body’s innate wisdom. So bringing these pieces together with my work as a Holistic Infant Sleep Coach, I hope to show parents that it’s safe for them to trust themselves, shut out the noise and listen to their babies.
Whilst I can’t (and would never!) guarantee that I can make your baby sleep better — I can guarantee that I can help you to feel happier in your situation, more trusting of your instincts and more confident in your choices.
